Chaoyouwei Dried Osmanthus Apricot

This is the Chaoyouwei Dried Osmanthus Apricot, a semi-dried fruit snack featuring dried apricot infused with osmanthus. It contained 0.2% osmanthus.

The package contained seven individually sealed pieces. Each piece presented with a dark brown hue, contrasting with the orange appearance shown in the promotional image and more commonly associated with dried apricots in the West. The surface was sticky, with golden osmanthus blossoms attached in places. Aroma opened with a sweet honeysuckle note consistent with the floral aroma of osmanthus alongside apricot.

Initial contact delivered immediate notes of dried apricot, with the sticky exterior biting through cleanly, similar to a regular dried apricot. As a semi-dried product, it retained substantial moisture. Through the mid-palate, honeyed floral notes of osmanthus developed with greater vibrancy, adding depth to the apricot while restraining its sweetness. Texture shifted from the initial clean bite into a more macerated, chewy consistency.

Towards the finish, the osmanthus receded, allowing the intense sweetness of the dried apricot to dominate before the floral notes returned softly in the aftertaste. The combination of apricot and osmanthus formed a natural flavour pairing, although it was an uncommon combination to encounter in a packaged fruit product.

Overall, a semi-dried apricot snack with a floral-to-fruit flavour progression and integrated textural development, moving from a clean, sticky bite into a moist, macerated chew. The osmanthus added honeyed floral depth through the mid-palate before yielding to the concentrated sweetness of the apricot, then returning as a soft lingering note.

This Chaoyouwei Dried Osmanthus Apricot contained 50 g (7 pieces). It was produced in China and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2026.
