Fujisei Horiuchi Aomori Surioroshi Ringo no Baumkuchen

This is the Fujisei Horiuchi Aomori Surioroshi Ringo no Baumkuchen, made with grated Aomori apples embedded into the dough and honey from Mishimeya village.

Each piece contained 22 layers, measuring approximately 10.5 cm at its widest and 1.7 cm in height, cut from a larger roll with a 12 cm diameter.

The baumkuchen had a fragrant aroma of fresh apples. On tasting, it had a fine crumb and a soft texture that yielded easily when bitten into, offering a satisfying level of chew before rehydrating on the palate and melting into a smooth finish. The apple flavour was immediate and intensified through to the finish, capturing both the natural sweetness and tartness of fresh fruit, while the honey added a floral depth to the sweetness. The aroma further enhanced each bite, intensifying the apple presence and making this a delightful apple-forward treat from Aomori and worth repurchasing.

This Fujisei Horiuchi Aomori Surioroshi Ringo no Baumkuchen contained 1 piece. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Aomori, Japan in 2024.
