Following on from the Yubari King jelly, this Hokkaitakaraya Hokkaidō Melon Cookie is a cookie using the juice of the famous Hokkaidō melon.

The cookies come in boxes of various sizes. This one contained 36 individually sealed cookies.

Each cookie has a photo of the melt-in-your-mouth melon on it alongside a drawing of the island of Hokkaidō.

The cookie is a light orange colour like the fruit itself and a circular shape around 4 cm in diameter, with a wonderfully pleasant aroma of the sweet and ripe melon with a hint of egg.

The texture of the cookie is light with a fine crumb and snaps cleanly but is not crispy, giving it a melt-in-your-mouth texture that allows the fragrant and unctuous aroma of the melons to build throughout the bite before a moreish egg cookie finish. We enjoy eating these with Japanese tea and could easily make our way through several if it weren’t that they’re individually wrapped, prompting us to reconsider before eating them anyway.
