This is the Irvins Salted Egg Potato Chips. They consisted of potato chips seasoned with salted egg, green curry leaves, and bird’s eye chillis.

The powdered salted egg gave the thin-cut potato chips, curry leaves, and chillis a golden hue. The numerous broken pieces are supposedly a “good thing” because they are evidence the company “literally hand-mix [their] snacks in small batches […] to ensure every snack is completely enrobed in flavour, making [their] snacks dangerously addictive.”

On tasting, the even coating of salted egg on each surface was immediately evident, providing a rich creaminess that developed mid-bite into a deeply savoury quality enhanced by the aromatic curry leaves. Subsequent chips contributed a very mellow heat from the chilli. The potato chip base served primarily as a crisp vehicle for the seasoning, with its potato flavour taking a backseat to the boldness of the seasoning. However, the richness of the flavour also helped with portion control, as it was difficult to eat more than a handful at a time. Overall, the impeccable seasoning blend made these chips well worth their premium price.
