Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Teriyaki

Jerky is a great source of protein when you’re feeling peckish but lazy. This here is Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Teriyaki. The packaging describes the jerky as being ‘slow cooked with authentic teriyaki marinade’.

The pieces of jerky are in (mostly) uniform rectangles with a meaty aroma and taste that’s pleasantly savoury with a marked sweetness. The flavour definitely recalled teriyaki — soy sauce and sugar — although I’m used to associating the flavour of teriyaki with a caramelised sticky texture rather than the drier format of the jerky. That said, the jerky has a good texture — it’s not too tender as to fall apart but also not too tough as to be endlessly chewy. Overall, the teriyaki flavour was enjoyable but lacked a gentle spiciness to make it moreish.

This Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Teriyaki contained 50 g. It was produced in New Zealand and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
