Ice cream sandwiches from supermarkets usually suffer from a soggy biscuit. There are delightful exceptions, like the Peters Maxibon Monster Cookie, but for something fresher, this is the Kakawa Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich Matcha.

The sandwich has two biscuits sandwiching a beautiful pastel green rectangle of matcha ice cream with an artistic stroke of matcha white chocolate brushed along its long edges.

The biscuit here is delightfully crisp and firm, while the ice cream has a pleasant matcha flavour with a gentle sweetness, light vegetal notes, although without any hint of bitterness or astringency. There are not overwhelming dairy notes in the ice cream, making it immensely enjoyable, although it’s not so amazing that we’d return for it before trying the other flavours available, including Espresso Martini and Caramelised Black Sesame.
