This is the Kubota Shimanto Bushukan Popsicle, crafted with juice from bushukan grown in Shimanto, Kōchi Prefecture. Renowned as the “king of sour citrus,” bushukan embodies the region’s title as the “kingdom of sour citrus.” (Kōchi Prefecture is also Japan’s leading producer of yuzu.)

The popsicle had an opaque light-yellow hue and a refined citrus aroma. Upon tasting, the bushukan flavour was strikingly vibrant, with an abundance of juice infused into the popsicle to deliver a sharp, refreshing acidity. The citrus notes balanced between the floral tanginess of calamansi and the tart zestiness of sudachi. The generous use of juice highlighted the distinct shimanto bushukan profile, making it an enjoyable and memorable treat. This is a flavour and brand worth revisiting.
