I’m a rather loyal fan of Nespresso capsules. There’s a wide variety of flavours to choose from, each with its own flavour profile that’s always consistent, so I’ve never seen much need to venture into other compatible brands. But with samples from Moccona, it’s a good a time as any to try. This here is Moccona Capsule Espresso 10.

The Espresso 10 combines ‘spicy and powerful notes of Robusta with sweet and fruity notes of Arabica’ and comes in a taupe and brown coloured capsule.

The espresso was a translucent deep black-brown colour with a rich spicy, roasted aroma.

Made as a long black with a 1 to 1 water:espresso ratio, lightly acidic winey notes at the head of each sip develop to a more general fruity acidity in the body before giving way to intense spicy, roasted flavours in the finish with a bold bitterness that lingered long in the aftertaste. Overall, the capsule is best compared to the bold bitterness of the Nespresso Kazaar, which is also a blend of Robustas and Arabicas.
This Moccona Capsule Espresso 10 contained 52 g or 10x 5.2 g capsules. It was produced in France and received as a sample in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
