This is the Nakaura Foods Matsue Wagashi Yuzu Komochi. These mochi were made in the city of Matsue, using yuzu grown in Shimane Prefecture.

Each package contained 6 pieces of komochi (‘small mochi’) individually wrapped in yellow washi.

Each mochi had a diameter of approximately 3.5 cm and a height of 1.5 cm, coated in potato starch and devoid of any discernible aroma. The mochi exhibited a soft, yielding texture that retained impressions upon touch and possessed a pliable elasticity. It offered minimal resistance upon biting, allowing the yuzu centre to immediately emerge. Resembling a delectably sweet yuzu marmalade, the flavour encompassed the vibrant, floral-citrus notes of the fruit, featuring well-balanced, lively acidity without any trace of bitterness. In sum, the supple texture coupled with the spirited yuzu flavour rendered these mochi exceedingly gratifying, warranting consideration for future repurchases.
