Bulk discounts are not easy to come by in Japan so we were delighted to find that shops were offering a discount on the per unit pricing for these bags of jellies containing twice the number of pieces inside. Of course, we took advantage and this here is Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Peach + Mango. As with all jellies in this series, they are konjac-based, so have that addictive bounce and resistance.

The Peach Jelly came in a pink coloured pouch and contained 21% fruit juice (a mix of peach and apple).

The jelly was a translucent off-white colour with the sweet aroma and flavour of the nectar of white-fleshed peaches. Indeed, the flavour reminds us of the peach cider we enjoyed from Okayama Prefecture, which is known for its high-quality peaches.

The Mango Jelly comes in a yellow coloured pouch and contained 4% mango purée.

The jelly is a translucent pale yellow colour with specks of fruit purée suspended throughout and has the sweet aroma of mangos at peak ripeness. The flavour reminds us of the rich mango flavour from Cocoaland Mango Gummy Candy – sweet with a hint of acidity in the body to bring out the fruit’s tropical flavour.

This Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Peach + Mango contained 240 g or 12 x 20 g pieces (6 x peach and 6 x mango). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Ōsaka, Japan in 2018.
