Not being fans of red wine, we stick to the sweeter Moscato white wines with this Rebello Wines Moscato Passionfruit Sparkling. We were disappointed by our choice of red fruit wine in the Hardys Hidden Orchard series so had high hopes for this one as it was awarded gold at the 2016 Australian Fruit Wine Show. It’s made with real passionfruit fermented over a northern Victorian Moscato.

The wine has a translucent pale straw colour with a bright tropical nose and a moderate carbonation. Served chilled, sweet notes of juicy passionfruit came through in the head before pleasantly light Moscato notes emerged in the body with a slight astringency in the finish to leave a refreshing passionfruit aftertaste. Served over ice, though, the sweet passionfruit notes are watered down, giving more prominence to the slightly bitter astringent notes of the Moscato.
Chilled, the wine is beautifully balanced, lightly sweet with a very enjoyable bright passionfruit presence. It’s easy and enjoyable to drink for those who are not fans of drier wines.
This Rebello Wines Moscato Passionfruit Sparkling contained 750 ml. It was bottled in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
