When Western foods claim to be spicy, we have pretty low expectations for the level of heat. These Sealord New Zealand Southern Blue Whiting Sriracha Crumb, though, were a pleasant surprise

These fillets were about 10 x 5 x 2 cm in size and contain 60% Southern Blue Whiting fillet and 40% sriracha crumb coating.

Prepared in an air fryer, these fillets have a golden crumb that’s crunchy and delivered a prominent heat that left our lips and and mouth very tingly. Beyond the chilli, though, the fish was flaky but lacked flavour of its own. So while we’re impressed with the level of spiciness in these fillets, we’re disappointed that it was relied upon to carry the flavour.

This Sealord New Zealand Southern Blue Whiting Sriracha Crumb contained 420 g or 4 fillets. It was produced in New Zealand and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2019.
