I love the punchy flavour and crunchy texture of freeze-dried fruit and these here are Three Chocolatiers Freeze Dried Strawberries that follow on from the rocky road we tried earlier.

Each bag contained around eight medium-sized pieces.

Each strawberry is freeze-dried and enrobed in a 7mm thick layer of dark chocolate. The coating isn’t particularly smooth or shiny, with visible imperfections all around.

These strawberries have a bitter dark chocolate aroma from the enrobing chocolate, which creates a thick and hard shell that requires some effort to bite through. The richness of the dark chocolate was evident on biting through with a gentle acidity from the freeze-dried strawberry emerging after biting through but disappearing almost immediately as the dark chocolate melts to a smooth mouthfeel that overwhelms all other flavours.

In contrast to the chocolate-coated strawberries from Muji, these freeze strawberries lacked the punchy acidity and the audible crunch to complement the richness of the chocolate.

This Three Chocolatiers Freeze Dried Strawberries contained 50 g. It was produced in Australia and received as a gift in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
