Breakfast cereal and I have a troubled relationship. Despite not being a fan of cereal or oats, they became my breakfast every morning during a 6-week internship in the UK many years ago. It was an easy breakfast, but I’d had enough for a lifetime and have barely touched these foods since returning. That is until I received these Trader Joe’s Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits made with grains grown in northern France, water from the Loire Valley, and blueberries from across Central Europe. Each box comes with 5 packs of 4 biscuits.

These breakfast biscuits are crunchy and distinct from breakfast biscuits in Australia by having a pronounced savoury flavour to counter the sweetness of the blueberries, so you feel less like you’re eating a snack cookie and more like you’re eating breakfast. That said, I find both the savoury and sweet blueberry flavours too strong by the second biscuit, constantly reaching for a drink to mellow the flavour but also to add moisture to the dry biscuits (a problem common to all breakfast cereals) and then to dissolve the biscuits that have stuck between my teeth (not a problem you’d want to be dealing with during the morning rush).
These biscuits are enjoyable for those who appreciate cereal or oats for breakfast, but only in much greater moderation than 4 at a time for me.
This Trader Joe’s Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits contained 250 g or 5 packs of 4 biscuits. They were produced in France and gifted by family visiting New York, the United States in 2016.
