We relished the abundance of products using kabosu while we were in Õita Prefecture in Japan and this Tsujisei Seika Kabosu Pie is one of the last of the kabosu-flavoured snacks that came back with us.

Each box contained 10 pieces.

Each piece is sealed individually in foil and weighs 6.5 g.

The ‘pie’ consisted of layers of pastry rolled into an oval shape and has the zesty aroma of kabosu — much like a sweeter lime. Upon tasting, the pastry is light but each layer is thick enough to give a satisfying crispness that delivered just a hint of zesty kabosu and hint of zesty kabosu and a subtle sweetness from the crystallised sugar on the outside that complements well with what is otherwise a buttery, savoury pastry. The restrained sweetness allows the subtlety of the kabosu to shine through delicately, making for a very moreish and light snack.

This Tsujisei Seika Kabosu Pie contained 10 x 6.5 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Beppu, Ōita, Japan in 2019.
