We were thrilled with our lamb rolls from Rams Indian and Sri Lankan Food, only to add yet another source of lamb rolls from BN. This is Mithu’s Restaurant located more conveniently across from Flemington Station.

The space is similarly nondescript, but the space is tidy with around 5 tables available for eating in. Unlike Rams Indian and Sri Lankan Food, the service and availablity of items on the menu can be a bit of a hit and miss. Coming in for lamb rolls, we were told they were out and to return in 10 minutes when the new batch would be ready. On returning, they’d only just finished cooking the innards and started rolling them, so we waited another 15 minutes before the rolls were ready. That said, these were $1.00, rather than $1.30.

These lamb rolls are around 10 cm in length and 3 cm in diameter and filled with a mix of spiced cubes of lamb, carrot and onion. These cubes of lamb add a substantial bite to these lamb rolls in contrast to the usual shredded lamb. We’re not sure we prefer it, but we don’t mind it and it definitely makes for a more filling snack. The seasoning is well balanced and delivered a prominent heat after a few bites. At $1.00, we can forgive the slow service when we’re not in a rush.
The restaurant also offers a number of other fried pastries, curries, and string hoppers much like Rams Indian and Sri Lankan Food. But again, we’re here for the lamb rolls.
