This is the Nippon Yell Dried Fruit Miyazaki Hyūganatsu, featuring semi-dried strips of hyūganatsu peel from fruit grown in Miyazaki Prefecture.

Each piece varied in size, with most measuring approximately 5.5 cm in length, 1 cm in width, and 0.45 cm in thickness. They had a yellow to orange hue, were dry to the touch, and were lightly coated in fine sugar. The aroma was a subtle sweet citrus.

The initial taste was sweet before giving way to an enjoyable soft crunch from the rind and some fibres, which immediately released an intensely aromatic flavour. The first bite delivered a juicy, zesty citrus profile, blending lemon and grapefruit notes with a floral fruitiness in the honeyed sweetness, without any sharp bitterness or sourness. As the zestiness faded, a lingering sweet citrus juiciness remained, accompanied by a tingling sensation on the tongue from the citrus oils. There was almost no bitterness, making the citrus flavour reminiscent of eating a fresh mandarin. These semi-dried hyūganatsu pieces showcased the fruit’s distinct character beautifully and were well worth repurchasing.
