Nana’s Green Tea Hanami Dango Sakura Latte

This is the Hanami Dango Sakura Latte ($9.80) from Nana’s Green Tea, built on a sakura-an latte base with sakura jelly, whipped cream dusted with matcha, pickled sakura, and a tricolour hanami dango skewer.

The beverage presented with an opaque baby pink hue. Darker pink sediment was suspended throughout, alongside cubed sakura jelly, and finished with a pink, white, and green dango resting on top.

Initial contact delivered immediate floral sweetness, followed by clear identification of sakura: mild, grassy, and lightly rosy with a cherry-like nuance. Through the mid-palate, the sakura-an introduced a fine, soft grittiness, with intermittent pockets of more concentrated floral notes from the paste. The sakura jelly contributed a smooth, yielding texture that dissolved cleanly. The milk base softened the sharper grassy edges, rounding the overall profile. Texture moved between a smooth liquid base, light particulate from the paste, and soft jelly inclusions, creating a layered progression. The whipped cream functioned primarily as structure for the dango rather than contributing materially to flavour. The dango itself held a consistent, lightly sweet profile across all three pieces, with a tender, elastic chew.

Overall, a sakura-flavoured latte with a layered trajectory and mixed textural integration, resulting in a composed but slightly over-structured drink.

This Hanami Dango Sakura Latte was purchased from Nana’s Green Tea in Sydney, Australia in April 2026.
