The pieces of pork crackling varied in size, each coated with an orange seasoning speckled with black. The crackling made from just the pork skin delivered an intense crunch. However, most pieces included the fatty layer beneath the skin, which disrupted the crunch with an unwelcome cold and gummy texture. The ‘special’ seasoning tasted primarily of savoury MSG rather than any distinctive blend of spices, as confirmed by the ingredients list. Similar to the hot and spicy version, this flavour also had some burnt seasoning, which introduced a bitter taste and detracted from the overall experience.
