These Aldi Seasons Pride Cafe Series Sea Salt and Truffle Flavoured Fries were released to rave reviews and we were lucky enough to find some in the freezer at our local Aldi. There’s no mistaking the truffle in these fries as we can smell its pungent aroma through the bag and as we prepare them in the oven.

The chips come out golden brown with visible flecks of truffle dusting its crisp skin and soft fluffy innards. The initial pungency of the truffle is mellowed through cooking and on tasting, the gentle sea salt notes came through ahead of a gourmet hint of truffle developing to a pleasant peak mid-bite that pairs well with the soft potato innards.

We were a bit apprehensive about the strength of the truffle suggested by the aroma, but the flavour was well balanced with the more substantial potato to truffle ratio working better than in the Red Rock Deli Special Reserve Sea Salt Black Truffle Ultra Deluxe Potato Chips.
