Crescent Croissanterie opened in the middle of 2022, and in late 2023, we coordinated a visit alongside Layers, which had commenced operations a year later.

The bakery is nestled at the base of an apartment complex. It did not offer indoor seating, but there were a couple of benches conveniently placed on the sidewalk for patrons to savour their pastries.

Pretzel ($7.00)
A pretzel croissant has consistently delighted, and this one was no exception. Its exterior boasted a satisfying crispness, with a distinct pretzel or lye essence. The addition of sea salt and sesame seeds elevated the buttery undertones of the impeccably layered pastry. This creation could easily rival those at Buttercrumbs Croissaint, although it did not quite reach the richer flavour of the one from Artisan Croissant in Seoul.

Apple Tarte Tartin ($11.00).
The apple had a delightful crunch to it, but the pastry left something to be desired. The exterior was not crisp and the interior was a doughy, albeit with a rich buttery flavour. That said, the upside-down baking technique did manage to avoid the common issue of soggy bottoms in danishes.

Yuzu Butterfly ($8.00).
We anticipated an exquisitely crisp palmier, akin to the offerings from Buttercrumbs Croissaint and Black Star Pastry. However, our expectations were met with disappointment as we discovered a soft croissant dough with no crispy exterior, drizzled with yuzu marmalade and sugar. While the buttery pastry flavour was present, the texture left much to be desired.

The texture of the pastries at Crescent Croissanterie, apart from the croissant, fell short of our expectations. In terms of quality and selection, Crescent Croissanterie was more reminiscent of Buttercrumbs Croissant rather than matching the precision found at Lode Pies and Pastries and Tenacious Croissant. Notably, Layers, a nearby bakery, also outshone in both flavour and execution.
Crescent Croissanterie is located at Shop 2/134 Willoughby Rd, Crows Nest NSW 2065.
