Croissant-ya Sakusaku is a flagship bakery located along the main road through Matsushima Bay. We had the opportunity to visit shortly after its grand opening in late October 2024.
The bakery specialises in viennoiserie, with an emphasis on delicate and precise execution reminiscent of bakeries led by Korean bakers in Sydney.
Pan Suisse Apple (¥580)
This pastry featured a striped croissant dough, creating a crisp, shard-like texture. The interior was generously filled with cubed apples that retained a pleasant bite and juicy acidity, balanced by a sweet syrup. The apples’ sweet-tart flavour paired beautifully with a rum-scented vanilla cream, resulting in a refined and delectable apple pastry.
