HazerBaba Turkish Apple Tea

Turkish apple tea is one of the easiest herbal teas to drink. It’s often served at Turkish restaurants or takeaway shops for gozleme and sold in an instant granulated form like this HazerBaba Turkish Apple Tea.

The tisane is made from a sugar base, which can be dissolved in either hot or cold water. As expected, the granules take longer to dissolve in cold water, so dissolving the granules in a small amount of hot water then topping with ice cubes would give a quicker iced tea.

Stirring 25 g of granules into 200 mL of either hot or cold water, the tisane is a golden straw colour with sweet apple nose. Served hot, sweet notes of apple came through before developing with a crisp apple flavour and increasing acidity mid-sip, and leaving a lightly astringent finish but without a lingering aftertaste. Served chilled, the flavour was more muted with the coolness creating a more refreshing beverage. Overall, the tisane is both very sweet and very sour, much like most Turkish apple tea, and perfect for those seeking a bold flavour.

This HazerBaba Turkish Apple Tea contained 250 g. It was produced in Turkey and purchased in New Zealand in 2014.
