This Nestlé KitKat Otona no Amasa Apple Pie is a recent addition released for Halloween in 2019 that caters to more adult tastes.
There are 14 different designs and our bag contained 7 of them.
Each mini-bar is a purple pastel colour and contained an apple powder flavouring the cream sandwiching the wafers that are enrobed in apple pie flavoured white chocolate.
These KitKat have a heady aroma of cinnamon that’s almost too much. Upon tasting, though, the cinnamon notes at the head of each bite are more subtle and give way to an immensely pleasant acidity in the body that developed with sweetness to recall cooked apples. Pops of savoury emerged in the body before the cinnamon notes return in the finish for an enjoyable apple pie crust flavour, while the sweet acidity lingered in the aftertaste and restrained the sharpness of the cinnamon that is thankfully more subdued on tasting than in the aroma. While we enjoy the acidity here, we prefer the fresher flavour of the Shinshu Apple.
