After a few months of solid lockdown and cooking at home, we ventured back into the world of takeaway with this Honey Chicken ($19.80) from Mr Ping’s. It wasn’t a very promising start, with the takeaway box was just half full, alas. The batter was also soft and soggy — the kind that’s thick and gummy, and certainly would’ve never been crunchy even if we’d eaten in store. The honey sauce was lacking both in volume and in terms of flavour. The sole saving grace of this dish was the chicken pieces, which were thigh and juicy.
Suffice to say, we’re unlikely to return. The servings had shrunk at Sun Ming through COVID-19 but they remained acceptable and critically, the quality of the food was maintained.
