Godiva, Chatswood

Chatswood became home to Godiva’s first Sydney location in November 2022. We stopped by and returned periodically to try a few things on their menu.

Cookies & Cream Waffle Cone ($8.90), featuring a waffle cup filled with milk chocolate soft serve, topped with dark chocolate sauce, crushed chocolate cookies and decorated with a mini Oreo, and a milk chocolate square and a milk chocolate gingerbread man.

The ice cream blew us away with its decadent richness, the crushed cookies adding textural depth to its smooth creaminess and the sauce bringing bolder notes of velvety chocolate flavour. The chocolate ‘garnishes’ were also crisp yet melted to a luxurious depth. The waffle cone retained its crispness until the end, allowing us to enjoy every last drop of the soft ice cream neatly.

Triple Chocolate Waffle Cone ($8.90), featuring a waffle cup filled with dark chocolate soft serve, topped with milk chocolate sauce, a drizzle of dark chocolate, and decorated with crushed peanuts and a milk chocolate square.

We enjoyed this ice cream 8 months after the previous one and were impressed all over again. The soft serve was significantly darker in colour and flavour, which came through with a darker chocolate flavour that was even more luxurious and rich (which we didn’t know was even possible) while retaining its velvety smoothness and without any overt bitterness. The milk chocolate drizzled on to harden to form a crisp shell that contrasted the richness and texture of the ice cream incredibly well, while countered by the dark chocolate drizzle and the crunch of the peanuts.

Both ice creams from Godiva were quite easily the most delicious chocolate ice creams we’ve had anywhere.

Fleur de Sel Chewy Caramel ($1.50). The hints of salt were well balanced by the sweetness of the caramel, which was soft on biting through and stuck briefly to our teeth before melting away.

Petals of Rose Chewy Caramel ($1.50). The rose petals and rosewater in the caramel gave a floral lightness to the usual heaviness of caramel.

Coconut Passionfruit Chewy Caramel ($1.50). The passionfruit added a fresh tartness that balanced the sweetness of the caramel, but we weren’t fans of the coconut notes.

Chocolate Chewy Caramel ($1.50). The chocolate added a very enjoyable richness to the caramel. Together with the coffee one before, this was our favourite.

Coffee Chewy Caramel ($1.50). Even more than the chocolate caramel, the coffee brought depth to the caramel with its gentle bitterness offsetting the sweetness beautifully.

The sweets at Godiva reflect the quality of their brand. We thoroughly enjoyed the richer chocolate and coffee-flavoured sweets from Godiva and would be keen to return to try other items on their menu.

Godiva is located at Shop 469, Westfield Chatswood, 1 Anderson St, Chatswood NSW 2067.
