This is the Ito En Tsukiyo no Ocha to Mata Ashita, introduced in September 2023 as part of a targeted strategy aimed at the Generation Z market, particularly young women. This beverage aimed to foster a culture of Japanese tea drinking among youth, with one of three short stories provided on the back of the label to help customers enjoy their leisure time. It consisted of a fruit tea blend, combining green tea and oolong tea with autumn fruits, including up to 10% fruit juice sourced from apples, grapes, lemons, and oranges, along with plant-derived lactic acid bacteria.
The beverage had a clear pale pink hue with a sweet aroma of sweet red grapes and grassy undertones of green tea. When consumed chilled, the red grape notes were immediately noticeable at the beginning of each sip, offering a bright acidity balanced by a subtle sweetness. Mid-sip, the tea notes emerged, featuring a soft vegetal quality akin to green tea, along with a pleasant, albeit noticeable, astringency accentuated by crisp apple notes. Although the grape notes briefly receded in the midsection, they returned alongside the floral sweetness of oolong, enhancing the aromatic qualities of red grapes for a harmonious finish. Overall, this flavoured tea provided a delightful blend of refreshing green tea, fragrant oolong, and dominant grape aroma, with the additional fruits contributing to the natural grape essence: apples provided a refreshing crispness, while lemon and orange added depth to the inherent acidity of red grapes.
This Ito En Tsukiyo no Ocha to Mata Ashita contained 500 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
