This is the Mei-Xin MX Snowy Twin Pack Mango with Pomelo Dessert. It contained 1% pomelo.
Each box contained a sealed pack with two snow-skin mooncakes, sold frozen and ready to eat after defrosting at room temperature for 45 minutes.
Each mooncake measured about 5 cm in diameter and 3 cm in height, featuring a centre of mango purée and sago, surrounded by mango-flavoured mung bean paste, all encased in a mango-flavoured mochi-like skin.
Upon tasting, the mochi exterior provided a smooth softness with a gentle stretch at the start of each bite, leading to the firmer, thick yet creamy mung bean paste, and finally to the ice-cold, sorbet-like mango purée centre. As the bite progressed, the palate experienced an increasing coolness and a vibrant, fresh mango flavour that intensified gradually and delightfully. The pomelo in the mung bean paste and the sago bits dispersed in in the mango purée added pops of juiciness and firm chewiness, contrasting nicely with the exterior’s softness. Though not usually a fan of mung bean, preferring white bean, the ripe mango flavour was strong enough to mask any dominant mung bean taste, contributing mainly to the creamy texture of the paste. Overall, this was a very enjoyable snow-skin mooncake and worth repurchasing.
