N and I stopped by Adora Handmade Chocolates to try their Hot Chocolate Blends.
Raspberry & Rose Petal Milk Hot Chocolate ($8.30). This used their 33.6% milk Belgian chocolate infused with raspberry and rose petals. It had a thin mouthfeel with the raspberry and rose flavours coming through as an enjoyable fruity and floral quality.
Coffee & Walnut Dark Hot Chocolate ($8.30). This used their 53.8% dark Belgian chocolate infused with walnuts and coffee. This also had a thin mouthfeel with the walnut dust leaving an unpleasant grainy finish to every sip without adding sufficient walnut flavour. The presence of the coffee was subtle and contributed to the bitterness of the dark chocolate, tasting like a poor excuse for a coffee-flavoured hot chocolate.
Both hot chocolates lacked the luxurious mouthfeel and smooth taste of a premium hot chocolate that their prices commanded.
