This is the Teaser Mango Sago Go ($8.80), which contained layers of sago, fresh mango, mango smoothie, coconut cream and red grapefruit.
Consumed chilled, the drink delivered a bright mango flavour in a range of textures and flavours: the fresh mango brought sweetness with some bite and gentle acidity, while the mango smoothie is mixed with the coconut cream adds an element of smooth creaminess to the mango flavour without adding dairy notes. The sago topping was slightly larger than is typical, but not quite so large as white pearls, making it most enjoyable. Overall, the version at Milk Flower was more enjoyable for its uniform size for all the toppings and its use of pomelo (which is sweeter and truer to the original Hong Kong dessert than the sharper notes of the grapefruit used here) while this one was slightly less elegant in its assembly, though cheaper.
December 2021 update: This drink (now $8.90) was served in a regular-sized cup (rather than a bottle) and used frozen (rather than fresh) mango, white pearls (rather than sago). It’s no longer worth it.
This Mango Sago Go was purchased from Teaser in Sydney, Australia in May 2021.
