Bubble Nini Tea failed to impress sufficiently when I first tried it shortly after it opened in 2018, I returned almost a year later to find a more extensive menu. This is the Rose and Lime (large, $7.50, fixed sweetness and fixed ice) with fresh lemon and lime, rose petals and strawberry pearls.
The drink was a clear red colour with a rosy floral aroma. Consumed chilled, the taste of rose is prominent from the generous pyramid teabag filled with red rose petals and from which the drink gains its pretty colour. A gentle sweetness with floral notes of honey came through in the body and is cut through by the lime and lemon which bring a gentle acidity without making the drink tart at all. The highlight are the pearls, which are delectably chewy with a fresh strawberry flavour and gentle sweetness. As with previous drinks, the mellowness of the flavour of the pearls — not at all punchy like the artificial ones from Din Tai Fung — is masked easily by stronger flavours and best enjoyed on their own. Overall, I enjoy this drink for its refreshing flavour with its balanced sweetness that’s natural without being syrupy like many bubble teas.
