When consumed chilled, prior to mixing, the coconut water provided a clean, refreshing quality without the savoury electrolytic notes that can sometimes appear, while the hōjicha cream was thick yet light, carrying a rich roasted flavour. Once stirred, the robust earthy notes of the hōjicha cream integrated with the coconut water to form a more drinkable consistency with a mellow sweetness, resembling a well-balanced hōjicha latte. It offered a lighter mouthfeel with a cleaner finish than a standard dairy-based hōjicha latte (despite the cream containing dairy), with no intrusive qualities from the coconut base.
Overall, this was a delightful interpretation of a lighter hōjicha latte that retained the richness of the roasted base, allowing its earthy qualities to shine. A drink worth repurchasing.
