Gotcha Kiwi Green Tea

The menu at Gotcha can be quite confusing.  There are their ‘Top 20’ drinks, which are promoted heavily around their stores, and then there’s a flurry on additional drinks that are likely to fly under the radar, such as their Signature Herbal Jelly. This Kiwi Green Tea ($6.40, +0.8 for golden/white pearls, fixed sweetness, no ice) is another example, with the only indication of it being available on an postcard stuck to the wall.

The bneverage is a translucent khaki green colour with a few kiwifruit seeds at the base. Consumed chilled, the tea has a mellow sweetness with a hint of tartness along with a mild astringency from the green tea that gave it away as being kiwifruit flavoured. Overall, though, the flavour was subtle and not at all loud or bold as in the fruit itself or fresh the kiwifruit juices that we’ve tried. It’s enjoyable but the flavour was not worth ordering again, although we did enjoy the bounciness of the golden pearls and white pearls, which have the same taste and texture as the ‘aloe vera jelly’ from Tea Mates but is really made from agar.

This Kiwi Green Tea was purchased at Gotcha in December 2019.
