This Bilpin Cider Co Non-Alcoholic Apple & Lemon Cider is the second non-alcoholic cider we picked up from the cellar in Bilpin. It is an unsweetened blend of ‘freshly crushed Australian Granny Smith and Pink Lady apples and lemons’.
The beverage was a translucent yellow colour with crushed lemon particles suspended throughout and a moderate carbonation. Served chilled, a bold lemon flavour came through from the head of each sip with the salivating acidity and brightness of fresh lemon juice with a hint of zest in the body. The intense acidity — mostly from the lemons but also assisted by the tart varieties of apples — is buoyed by a similarly intense sweetness from the apples. Despite the suspended lemon particles within the drink, it does not interfere with its smooth mouthfeel, with the overall flavour delivered by the beverage being a richly flavoured homemade lemonade, with the apples delivering a depth to the sweetness that is usually lacking in lemonade.
