This Hakata Hyakunengura Sparkling Sake Awayura received the Gold Medal at The Fine SAKE Awards Japan in 2019. It’s carbonated and brewed from Fukuoka Yume yeast with an alcohol content of 7%, which is about half that of ordinary sake.
The sake is a clear pale straw colour with an gently acidic sake nose and moderate carbonation. Served chilled, an enjoyable sweetness came through before the sake flavour deepens with a refreshing, yet salivating, acidity in the body ahead of a hint of bitterness in the finish. The prominent sweetness and restrained bitterness while retaining a deep sake flavour makes this is one of the most refreshing and enjoyable sake we’ve tried to date.
This Hakata Hyakunengura Sparkling Sake Awayura contained 250 ml. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Fukuoka, Japan in 2019.
