Cheerio Pineapple Candy Cider

This is the Cheerio Pineapple Candy Cidera beverage inspired by pine ame, the classic pineapple-flavoured hard candy from Ōsaka. Despite the reference, it contains neither pineapple juice nor extract.

The beverage had a clear yellow hue and a mellow, sugary pineapple-like aroma reminiscent of the candy. Upon tasting, the flavour was notably subdued—more a general sweet soda than a recognisably pineapple-driven one. A noticeable tropical-style acidity peaked mid-sip, but the expected richness or fruit depth never developed. While the carbonation was moderate, it did offer a lifting effect, preventing the sweetness from lingering excessively on the palate and leaving a relatively clean aftertaste.

Overall, the drink lacked the distinctive pineapple profile suggested by its concept and was less satisfying than comparable offerings, such as the Yamagata pineapple cider, which—despite also lacking real juice—delivers a more robust flavour.

This Cheerio Pineapple Candy Cider contained 500 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
