This is the GS Retail YouUs Mungyeong Omija Ade, made with 1% schisandra concentration from Mungyeong City and 0.25% domestic schisandra extract.
The beverage had a transparent red-orange hue, rather than the typical vibrant red-pink associated with omija, along with a bright omija aroma. On tasting, the flavour was more restrained, capturing the fruity sweet-tart notes in the first half of the sip. However, from mid-sip onward, the sweetness became the dominant characteristic, lacking the more nuanced layers typically found in omija. The sourness was subdued, and the overall profile resembled a very sweet cordial, missing the balancing bitter sharpness or savoury umami that would have added complexity. When consumed with ice, it was refreshing but further diluted the omija flavour. Overall, this was not one we would repurchase.
