Pancake King, Burwood & Eastwood

Pancake King in Burwood Plaza and Eastwood Arcade offers more than just pancakes, with a menu that also includes steamed buns, casseroles, and desserts.

Fried Bread Stick ($3.00)

Measuring over 30 cm in length, this yóutiáo had a crisp exterior and a pleasantly tender chew inside. It was noticeably less oily than the version available in Eastwood, making it lighter to eat. However, it lacked the savoury depth and moreish quality that made the Eastwood version more memorable.

Tianjin Jianbing Guozi ($8.00)

Cooked to order, this mung bean-based crepe was layered with two eggs, chopped green onions, and a mix of savoury spreads, then rolled around a crisp fried pastry. The aroma was comforting, combining egg richness with a sweet-savoury sauce reminiscent of tonkatsu. On tasting, the crepe provided a soft, eggy contrast to the crunchy interior, creating a simple yet texturally varied bite. Overall, it satisfied a carb craving, though without the distinction needed to repurchase.

Overall, Pancake King delivers a serviceable experience with affordable snacks, though both items leaned more towards novelty than must-try, especially when stronger versions exist elsewhere.

Pancake King is located at Burwood Plaza, 42/50 Railway Parade, Burwood NSW 2134 and 2A/181 Rowe St, Eastwood NSW 2122.
