Delimanjoo opened in Parramatta in April 2024, with its name short for ‘delicious mandu’.
A bakery originating in Korea, their signature product resembles a mini ear of corn, priced at $5.00 for 4 pieces, $10.00 for 10, or $20.00 for 22. During the evening ‘happy hour’ they were priced at $5.00 for 7 pieces.
Custard.
When eaten fresh and hot, the mini mandu had a crispy exterior and gooey interior. However, even a brief stint in the paper bag caused them to lose their crispiness, becoming dense and overly sweet. While enjoyable fresh, the custard lacked the rich eggy quality and balanced sweetness of Emperor’s Garden Cake & Bakery’s iconic cream puffs.
Red Bean.
About a month after their initial opening, we returned to try their red bean-filled version. Though they had cooled to room temperature, the restrained sweetness and thicker texture of the red bean paste complemented the cake batter better than the custard. We would eat these again, but an even more delightful version would be if Emperor’s Garden Cake & Bakery offered one with red bean filling.
