Kebabs are a food I associate with university days – it’s where I ate my first kebab and also the last before last week. The popular shop selling those kebabs at our university has since been replaced by more chain restaurants along with the rest of the independent shops on campus, but D and I had a nostalgic craving for a kebab and stopped by the ever busy Toros Kebab in the food court at Parramatta Westfield.
We go for the Beef Kebab ($9.90) on Lebanese bread with beef, lettuce, tomato, tabouli and barbeque sauce.
The beef was tender without being too oily or salty, while the lettuce and the tomatoes added freshness along with the parsley in the tabouli which added a surprisingly pleasant herby flavour to the kebab. We’d have enjoyed more generous servings of tomato and barbeque sauce, but overall, the kebab satisfied our cravings.
