This Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Barbecue follows on from the teriyaki version earlier. The packaging describes the jerky as being ‘slow cooked with smoke flavour added’.
The pieces of jerky are mostly rectangular in shape with sweet, meaty aroma much like barbecue sauce. The sweetness, though, is less marked in the taste, with a pleasant smoky and savoury flavour coming through that recalled the flavour of sticky ribs. A gentle heat lingered on the palate after eating a few pieces. As with the teriyaki flavour, the jerky has a good texture with a satisfying chew but not so much as to be tough or so little as to fall apart. We prefer this one to the teriyaki for its gentle heat.
