After a positive experience at a market research session for launching Bibigo dumplings in Australia, I was excited to eat them again. So we headed to the Korean grocery store and picked up these Bibigo Mandu Vegetables & Japchae Dumplings. These were made for the South Korean market and imported into Australia, unlike the dumplings at the market research session which were made specifically for the Australian market.
The dumplings were served pan-fried on low-medium heat until golden brown on all sides. Upon tasting, the skins of the dumplings were pleasantly thin, yet the filling was an unimpressive mushy consistency with too much moisture. The crunch of the carrots and the gentle bounce of the glass noodles that made the original Australian-made dumplings so enjoyable were both absent and instead, the flavour of the leek lingered on our palate for hours after consuming them. These dumplings made for the South Korean market were not to our taste.
