This is the Steggles Limited Edition Thai Coconut Chicken Pops, made with 46% chicken and coated in a Thai-style coconut batter (35%).
The chicken pops varied in size, with most measuring around 2–2.5 cm in diameter. They were coated in a brown batter speckled with dark green and black flecks, and looked the same before and after air frying (cooked for 14 minutes), releasing a distinct aroma of Thai green curry.
On tasting, the coconut coating provided an initial crunch, giving way to the tender, formed chicken meat inside. The chicken itself was unseasoned, relying entirely on the coating for flavour, which it delivered successfully. The green curry aroma translated directly into the taste, starting with creamy coconut notes followed by a savoury, aromatic spice blend. Galangal and lemongrass fragments in the coating released more intense flavours as they were chewed, with a subtle acidity and lime emerging in the finish. A gentle heat lingered between bites. Overall, we were impressed by the execution of the Thai-style coconut coating and would gladly repurchase these chicken pops.
