This is the Steggles Limited Edition Gravy Flavoured Chicken Breast Schnitzel. It was a formed product, containing 65% chicken and 25% gravy flavoured coating.
Baked in the oven at 200ºC for 15 minutes, turning once, the schnitzel had a crunchy coating with an unmistakable gravy flavour, well-seasoned with a rich, meaty taste. Combined with the chicken, it closely resembled the flavour of KFC’s fried chicken dipped in the gravy. The coating was slightly too salty, but this could easily be balanced with a side of chips or salad. Being a formed product, the chicken itself was juicy and tender, without the dryness or stringiness often associated with breast meat. Overall, these gravy-flavoured schnitzels were a successful limited edition release, and we’d gladly repurchase them.
