Nestlé KitKat Otona no Amasa Hōjicha

This Nestlé KitKat Otona no Amasa Hōjicha is a more widely available and more affordable hōjicha flavoured KitKat than the region limited version made in collaboration with the Itokyuemon tea house in Kyōto. It forms part of their otona no amasa series aimed adult palates.

Each KitKat is wrapped individually in a brown coloured foil.

Each mini bar is a light brown colour and contained ground hōjicha flavouring the cream sandwiching the wafers that are enrobed in white chocolate that’s been mixed with 0.4% hōjicha powder and crushed biscuits.

These KitKat have the warm and inviting roasted aroma of hōjichaUpon tasting, the hōjicha came through bright at the head of each bite with an enjoyable crunch from the crushed biscuits before mellowing briefly as the white chocolate melts and then returning as we reach the houjicha cream within. The texture of the crushed biscuits and the less rich flavour of this KitKat in comparison to the region limited version — Itokyuemon Hoji Cha — means this one tastes less like a hōjicha latte. We prefer the region limited version, but this one is likely more accessible to all palates.

This Nestlé KitKat Otona no Amasa Hōjicha contained 12 mini bars. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2019.
