Wakohen Arabiki Genmaicha Funmatsucha

This Wakohen Arabiki Genmaicha Funmatsucha is another funmatsucha from the tea house from Kagoshima.

The tea consisted of a blend of the Wakohen’s arabikicha with ground brown rice.

Prepared using 1.5 g of powder stirred into 200 mL of water (80°C or room temperature), the tea was a yellow-green hue and has the characteristic nuttiness to the grassy aroma of the green tea. At the head of each sip, the notes of roasted rice came through prominently, recalling popcorn and creating warm and almost savoury flavour before the hints of vegetal sweetness from the green tea emerged in the body. As a powdered rice tea, there is some grittiness in the mouthfeel — even when compared to the arabikicha alone — although the nuttiness of the roasted rice is more pronounced than when steeped and gave the tea a richer and more full-bodied flavour, which we enjoy.

This Wakohen Arabiki Genmaicha Funmatsucha contained 30 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Kagoshima, Japan in 2019.
