This is The Global Jasmine Longjing Pastry.

Each box contained two individually sealed pastries, each approximately 4.5 cm in diameter. However, they looked noticeably different from the illustration on the packaging.

The pastries consisted of a green hued jasmine filling centre (21%), encased in a white mochi-like layer, followed by a layer of brown pea paste (21%), and wrapped in a green hued unleavened pastry. It contained 5% longjing tea sauce.

The flaky pastry had a mild margarine aroma and taste. Inside, the thick but somewhat dry pea paste seemed more for texture than flavour, as it lacked jasmine or longjing tea notes, nor did it have a strong pea taste. Beneath the pea paste, the soft, stretchy glutinous rice layer enclosed the sugar paste, which delivered a strong jasmine and longjing tea flavour. It had a rounded sweetness with bold vegetal qualities, accented by fragrant, dewy jasmine notes. When eaten together, these grassy floral notes were pronounced and lingered pleasantly in the finish and aftertaste.
The pastry’s delicate flavours and intricate layers were impressive for the price ($2.00.59 for two) and made it worth repurchasing.
This The Global Jasmine Longjing Pastry contained 80 g (2 pieces). It was produced in China and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
