This is the UHA Mikakutō Puccho Fresh Melon Soda.
Each candy piece measured approximately 2 x 1.5 x 1 cm and was wrapped in an opaque green taffy that enclosed translucent blue-green gummy particles and compressed white sherbet. Upon tasting, the melon flavour was primarily derived from the green taffy exterior, which offered a sweet profile with minimal acidity. The white sherbet provided a cooling crunch followed by a subtly fizzy sensation similar to soda, but it didn’t contribute any distinct flavour of its own. The gummy particles contained ramune flavour, and it was the combination of these components—the taffy, sherbet, and gummy—that delivered the overall melon soda taste.
As one chewed, the ramune gummy added a pleasing tanginess, infusing a fresh dimension into the melon flavour. In the aftertaste, a cooling sensation lingered on the palate, leaving behind a refreshing mouthfeel. While these candies were enjoyable, the melon flavour lacked a balancing acidity of its own to achieve a fully satisfying melon taste. Nonetheless, it did capture the predominant sweetness found in melon soda.
This UHA Mikakutō Puccho Fresh Melon Soda contained 50 g (5 g x 10 pieces). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
