It’s always fun to find new flavours of old favourites. Often it’s only when we’ve tasted the new flavours that we realise the qualities that made it a supermarket staple.
Each piece has a crisp honeycomb flavoured malt centre covered with smooth milk chocolate. They look just like the original flavour with the pleasantly sweet honey aroma the only giveaway.
The honeycomb flavour of these Maltesers is more prominent in the aroma than in the taste. We were quite surprised by subtle honeycomb flavour and the pale cream colour of the malt centre as we were expecting a bright yellow colour as in Cadbury Crunchie or Nestlé Violet Crumble bars. Indeed, the honeycomb flavour comes only in the finish and in the aroma after the crunchy malt centre has melted along with the chocolate coating. Pay less attention, and we’d likely be forgiven for mistaking these for the original Maltesers.
This Mars Maltesers Honeycomb contained 140 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
