This is the Morinaga Koeda Amaou Strawberry, made using 1.6% strawberry derived from strawberry powder containing 62% Amaou strawberries produced in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Each box contained 11 individually wrapped packs, with four pieces per pack. Each piece resembled a small branch (hence the name koeda), measuring approximately 4.3 × 0.7 × 0.5 cm. The pieces had a pastel pink hue with white nubbly bits that enhanced the branch-like appearance and offered a sweet-tart strawberry aroma.
On tasting, the surface provided a clean snap, followed by a consistent nubbly texture throughout—essentially strawberry-flavoured white chocolate interspersed with rice crispies. The crispies lent a light crunch that contrasted well with the chocolate’s smoothness. The strawberry flavour emerged gradually, deepening from mid-bite as the chocolate melted, moving from a creamy sweetness to a juicy tartness reminiscent of ripe strawberries. The flavour was notably natural and vibrant. In the finish, the toasted rice crispies added warmth while the strawberry lingered softly on the palate.
Overall, a conveniently portioned snack, offering natural fruit flavour and balanced sweetness.
